I International Conference on Applied Cognitive Linguistics (CLaRe)

Highlights

The I International Conference on Applied Cognitive Linguistics (CLaRe 2025), held at the University of Valencia from 19 to 21 November 2025, brought together 32 researchers to explore applied perspectives on cognitive linguistics. The conference welcomed international scholars from Italy, Poland, France, Germany, and Belgium, alongside participants from 14 Spanish universities, fostering a rich environment of cross-linguistic and interdisciplinary exchange.

The programme featured five plenary lectures by leading figures in the field (e.g. Francisco José Ruiz de Mendoza Ibáñez, Annalisa Baicchi, Ana María Rojo López, Francisco Gonzálvez García, and Grzegorz Drożdż), as well as a wide range of invited and contributed talks. Presentations addressed key applied domains such as language pedagogy and grammar instruction, translation and interpreting, discourse and pragmatics, figurative language and humor, multimodality, lexical creativity, corpus-based analysis, accessibility, and cross-linguistic variation.

CLaRe 2025 marked the launch of a new forum dedicated to Applied Cognitive Linguistics, showcasing how cognitive approaches can be applied to real-world linguistic phenomena across languages, genres, and communicative contexts.
